We Live In a World of Competing Sorrows

Upon making the last entry, I happened upon a splendid blog entry by Richard Smith in the British Medical Journal and was reminded of the wonderful quote by the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynahan:

“We live in a world of competing sorrows.”
Perhaps it is not fair to pit one public health calamity against another. However, perhaps conversely it is that very comparison that enhances perspective. Either way, it is submitted for your consideration.
