The yearly incidence of diabetic foot ulcers: From 2% to 32%, depending on ADA Risk Classification

We are often asked to post risk data for ulcers in a simple table. This simple table, based on works from our partner team Lavery (et al) and our unit was put together in a terrific manuscript by Sibbald, et al. (ADV SKIN WOUND CARE 2012;25:465-7) Enjoy:

No neuropathy or vascular disease: 2% yearly ulcer incidence
Loss of protective sensation but no peripheral artery disease (no PAD): 4.5%
Peripheral artery disease: 13.8%
Past history of ulcer or amputation: 32.2%
