Virtual Healthcare Assistant – Buddying Up Patients with Mobile Tools

One licensed physician for every 370 people in the U.S.
Here’s an interesting article by Thomas Morrow, talking about the how data analytics tools, voice recognition and new user interfaces can be used to empower patients for their own care. Patient adherence is the biggest culprit in poor outcomes and high costs of healthcare. This poor adherence rate costs the healthcare industry $ 100-289 Billion annually.
Patients today are solely dependent on their physicians to get better. Is this the right culture? Perhaps, not; Driving patients to modify behaviors, giving them a  mobile buddy that keeps them on track round the clock can reduce the burden on physicians and improve adherence. Each case, each patient and each illness is unique; having a tool that integrates these specific needs into a friendly mobile application can make a huge difference.
