We at SALSA prefer a “vertical” and “horizontal” wound healing strategy. The “vertical” strategy involves filling in defects and covering vital structures with NPWT. The “horizontal” philosophy involves skin grafting, assisting secondary healing through bioengineered tissue or other substances, and aggressive offloading. An example of this is here.
