How we now define human: hominin > hominid = humility > hubris

I was speaking recently with my colleague anthropologist Dave Raichlen and I was puzzled by his use of “hominin” instead of “hominid”. Not being in the know, I did a little digging (typing, really) and dug this up for all of us who learned taxonomy in the last century. A terrific discussion on this in io9.
