UA Surgery SALSA’s Armstrong Named as 2013 Raine Visiting Professor

David G. Armstrong, DPM, MD, PhD, Professor of Surgery and Director of the University’s Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) was named as a 2013 Raine Visiting Professor to the University of Western Australia (UWA). The award, which selects top international scholars in their respective fields to devote time in collaborative seminars, keynotes, research and workshops, has never before been given to a podiatric surgeon. “I’m so very honored by being named a Raine Professor”, noted Dr. Armstrong “The rich history of the UWA– from its pioneering roots to its fostering of Nobel laureates– is so very similar to the land-grant mission of our University of Arizona. I look forward to exploring those similarities and learning from the differences during this visit.” Armstrong begins his series of more than a dozen clinics, student seminars, lectures, dinners and appearances at the end of August in Perth.

Armstrong, who co-directs SALSA with renowned vascular surgeon Joseph Mills, has produced more than 360 peer reviewed manuscripts and has received numerous national and international awards in tissue repair, wound healing, diabetes, and amputation prevention including from the American Diabetes Association. He has lectured in more than 40 nations, worldwide.
