The Hospital of the Future: Our Home

We at SALSA-iCAMP have long suggested that many items that now appear as medical devices are really better classified as consumer electronics. What we have to do collectively is to figure a method for our regulatory bodies and ethics/privacy/security concerns to catch up and harmonize with what is our digital now.

We believe that much of this can start with our changing our minds about “who pays for this?” Perhaps the value is that these are subscriptions– just like our mobile phone or our Netflix or Cable or Hulu or Internet. In that way, we needn’t work to convince an insurance company or federal body that prevention pays!
