Nearly 1000 clinicians from throughout the region joined an international faculty to “wage war on wounds”. David G. Armstrong, Professor of Surgery and Director of the University of Arizona’s Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) provided one of the keynote lectures for the event. “When one in four people on the Arabian Peninsula have diabetes and the most common reason they will end up hospitalized is for a foot infection– one that is often painless and silent initially– it’s time to sound the alarm” noted Armstrong. Armstrong continued “I think we need to work with the Gulnaz Tariq and the other wonderful organizers of this symposium and band together.”
