@UofA’s Armstrong “Present at the Creation” of Podiatric Specialty in Romania

David G. Armstrong, Professor of Surgery and Director of the University of Arizona’s Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance joined clinicians and researchers from across Europe at this years Neurodiab Symposium. “A main purpose of this year’s Neurodiab was unlike any other in the history of the symposium.” noted Dr. Armstrong, “Its purpose was to help create the specialty of Podiatry to help better care for the massive wave of complex patients.” Under the leadership of co-Directors Norina Gavan and Ioan Veresiu, this meeting hosted some 300 physicians, surgeons and scientists with an interest in neuropathy, diabetes and the lower extremity in Bucharest. A follow up meeting will be held in the Romanian town of Cluj-Napoca in April 2017 that will be the first Romanian Association of Podiatry symposium.  It will be supported by the International Federation of Podiatrists (FIP) led by Director Caroline Teugels and President Dr. Matt Garoufalis.
