David G. Armstrong, Professor of Surgery and Director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) at Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California gave this year’s keynote at the Western Podiatric Medical Conference. “To return home to Southern California after a quarter century and see a record-breaking symposium like this is just stunning”, noted Armstrong in his opening remarks. “I think the growth and quality of this meeting this year is a good indicator of how far the specialty has come in that time frame.”
Armstrong discussed next-generation technologies that he and his colleagues have helped to develop over the past 25 years as well as a peek into what is next in medicine, surgery, and the interface of consumer electronics and medical devices.
The Western, which attracted nearly 1200 people nationwide, experienced a record-breaking year for attendance.
