@USC’s Armstrong Keynotes 10th Abu Dhabi Wound Healing Symposium

David G. Armstrong, Professor of Surgery and Director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) at University of Southern California delivered the “State of The Art” Keynote address at the 10th Annual Abu Dhabi Wound Care Conference held in the United Arab Emirates this past weekend. The lecture, entitled “Offloading the Diabetic Foot: 30 Years of Research in 30 Minutes” highlighted Armstrong and his group’s work over a generation in developing low tech and high-tech methods to protect and heal diabetic foot wounds. Beginning with methods such as total contact casting, the lecture ended with the team’s work in developing next-generation “smart boots” and intelligent textiles. The symposium had 1200 delegates from the Middle East and around the world and featured lecturers from four continents.
