In a glittering event at Pasadena’s Langham Hotel, Keck School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery, Vascular Surgery Division held its commencement ceremonies including both vascular and podiatric surgical graduates. For the first time, this included graduates of the Department’s limb preservation fellowship. Perhaps even more notable was that this is the first such “named” fellowship in the history of podiatric surgery. Chia-Ding Shih, DPM, MPH and Tanzim Khan, DPM, became the first Lawrence B. Harkless fellows in limb preservation. Named after the famed educator, the program is dedicated to developing the next-generation of leaders in academic podiatric surgery. Dr. Shih will be taking a post at Samuel Merritt University and Dr. Khan will become an assistant professor at the Keck School of Medicine.
