USC Professor of Surgery David G. Armstrong became the first podiatric surgeon to keynote a session at the 24th International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI). Armstrong’s lecture described the toll that diabetes complications take worldwide as well as the role that advances in artificial intelligence, advanced imaging and robotics can play now and in the future. The program was co-chaired by Professors Moi Hoon Yap and Neal Reeves of Manchester Metropolitan University. Held as a hybrid symposium this week in Strasbourg and virtually, the symposium attracted computer scientists, researchers and industry leaders, worldwide.
