The Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) of the Department of Surgery at the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine presented multiple studies at the national Diabetes Technology Meeting in Bethesda. SALSA Scientist and research Assistant Professor, Dr. Manish Bharara was presenting four SALSA studies on Thermometry (tissue health monitoring; thermal stimulation of tissue), Charcot Foot evaluation (using thermometry), gene expression analysis for wound biopsies and ‘Chemovac‘. These works were co-authored by SALSA clinician-scientists Prof. David G Armstrong, Prof. Joseph Mills, Prof. Horacio L Rilo and CLEAR’s Dr. Bijan Najafi and Dr. James Wrobel. “All studies were well received and represented innovations in this area”, noted Dr. Bharara. “It is an indication of the productive collaborations at all centers in the combined fight against the global epidemic.”
