Following in the footsteps of the “World's Most Expensive Beer“, may I now present to you the “World's Most Expensive Flip-Flops“.

Featuring a jaw-dropping price tag of $18K, this one-of-a-kind footwear is more akin to a work of art, the brainchild of L.A.-based eco-conscious footwear company Chipkos and contemporary artist David Palmer. Once sold, the company pledges to protect 100,000 square feet of Costa Rican rain forest, part of its “Chipkos Stand for Square Feet Campaign.”

In addition to helping to conserve a vital resource, the wealthy buyer will also recieve two-nights free at theLEED-certified Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, a sustainble glass and wood case to display the footwear, and a meet n' greet with Palmer.
“Inspired by nature, and language, and the invisible connections between things, I create images that reflect my fascination with an increasingly complex world,” the artist said of his work.
Naturally, you don't have to have deep pockets to walk the walk and help protect the planet. Chipkos also offers the sandals in a much more affordable $42 version, with each sale conserving 100 square feet of rain forest.
