Health Forum: Progressive Action on Diabetes Prevention, a free event, open to the public, will take place Wednesday, Oct. 16, Noon-1:30 p.m., in the Student Union Memorial Center, Kiva Room, 1303 E. University Blvd., on the UA main campus.

Sponsored by the UA Chicano/Hispano Student Affairs, theUniversity of Arizona Center on Aging and the Department of Surgery’s Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance, the event will include:

· The latest diabetes treatment and research programs

· Student involvement opportunities

· Open question panel

·  David Armstrong, DPM, MD, PhD, UA professor of surgery and director, Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA)

·  Joseph Mills, MD, UA professor of surgery, chief of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, and co-director of SALSA

·  Merri Pendergrass, MD, PhD, UA professor of medicine and director of the Diabetes Program at the UA College of Medicine – Tucson

·  Joaquin Ruiz, PhD, UA executive dean of the Colleges of Letters, Arts and Science, dean of the College of Sciences and vice president of innovation and strategy
