David G. Armstrong, Professor of Surgery and Director of the Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) was the keynote lecturer for the first Gulf Diabetic Foot Conference hosted by Oman’s Ministry of Health and the Gulf Diabetic Foot Working Group. “To be able to work alongside so many colleagues throughout the Middle East, Africa and South Asia toward a common goal is not only inspiring, but life affirming” noted Dr. Armstrong. “The fact that we can now see positive changes being made unit by unit means that individual people of various specialties are now teaming up to heal people with diabetes and prevent gangrene and amputation.” Armstrong went on to say “I applaud Mounia Sabbasse, Talal al Elenzi, Nashaat al Gandoura and Saud al Haarthi for their leadership and hospitality.” The next symposium will be held in 2016 in Kuwait City.
