SALSA’s Armstrong Chairs Diabetic Foot Symposium at World Union of Wound Healing Societies

David G. Armstrong, Professor of Surgery and Director of the University of Arizona’s Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) became the first person to serve as session chair for four consecutive World Union Symposia. He joined more than 4000 delegates who packed Florence’s Fortezza da Basso for the 5th quadrennial World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS). “It is a terrific honor to participate in this great event.” noted Armstrong. “I applaud Marco Romanelli, Alberto Piaggesi and the entire Italian contingent for making this an event to remember.”  Armstrong’s session included leaders from around the world sharing medical, surgical, leadership, and policy secrets to develop programs to help prevent amputation in people with diabetes. The 2020 WUWHS host country will be decided tomorrow between finalists China, Thailand, Brazil or the United Arab Emirates.
