Laura Shin, Assistant Professor of Surgery and Program Director of Education for the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) at Keck Medical Center of USC became the first podiatric surgeon to present to the interdisciplinary research rounds within plastic and reconstructive surgery. “It is a pleasure to have Dr. Shin present her work at today’s meeting”, noted Alex Wong, MD, Associate Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. “Her work as a stem cell biologist coupled with her experience as a podiatric surgeon make her perfect to share her past and future lab works today.” Dr. Shin, a stem cell biologist and podiatrist, performed her PhD training at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science before performing her residency and fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She was then recruited to the Keck School of Medicine of USC to work with the interdisciplinary limb preservation team at SALSA.
