David G. Armstrong, Professor of Surgery and Director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) at Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California was the featured speaker at the sold-out fifteenth Congress of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Santiago, Chile, this past weekend. “To have Professor Armstrong here is important for us.” noted Maria Jose Espinoza, MD, session chair of the congress. “His work in Limb Preservation as well as next generation technologies is of significant interest to physicians working in physical medicine and rehabilitation.” Armstrong discussed SALSA’s works as well as other collaborative teams in reconstructive surgery, wearable and implantable sensors and exoskeletons. “To see the highlight being given on teams and partnerships here in Chile serves as a model not only for this hemisphere, but for the rest of the world.” noted Dr. Armstrong during his final remarks. The meeting featured more than 300 physicians, surgeons and clinicians from across Latin America.
