USC surgeon-researcher Professor David G. Armstrong and team received the first place award during the poster presentation session at the Wound Healing Society’s 2022 symposium held in Phoenix this past week. The study, entitled “Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcers Using Autologous Adipose Tissue” reported on the team’s early evaluation of the healing potential of one’s own tissue. The study, conducted using a device developed by the Irvine company Syntr, allows for a small amount of fat to be harvested, processed, and rapidly delivered to limb-threatening wounds.
