David G. Armstrong, Professor of Surgery and Director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) became the first podiatric surgeon in the history of the specialty to reach 60,000 citations of more than 600 peer reviewed publications.   He and his colleagues have become the first podiatric surgeons to publish in a multitude of journals. This includes the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature journals, the Lancet, JAMA, JVS, and JBJS among many others.
