Blog Title: Implementation of a Patient-Centered Remote Wound Monitoring System for Management of Diabetic Foot Ulcers
This from our colleagues at Johns Hopkins

Summary: Regular clinical assessment is crucial for optimizing the healing of lower extremity wounds, particularly in diabetic foot ulcers. However, various barriers often hinder patient follow-up, including family and work obligations, socioeconomic factors, transportation limitations, and time constraints. To address this issue, a patient-centered remote wound management system called the Healthy.io Minuteful for Wound Digital Management System was implemented. This system enables patients to perform at-home wound scans using a smartphone application, providing a convenient and accessible means of surveillance. The study enrolled 25 patients with diabetic foot ulcers who underwent revascularization and podiatric interventions. Data on patient engagement, smartphone app usability, and patient satisfaction were collected. The results showed high patient satisfaction, with 94% of patients reporting the system as useful. The digital wound management system triggered an early change in wound management for 36% of patients. Overall, the study demonstrated the feasibility and effectiveness of the Healthy.io Minuteful system for remote wound monitoring, highlighting its potential for improving the management of diabetic foot ulcers.
