Singapore — In a groundbreaking collaboration that took place on August 27th, the American Limb Preservation Society (ALPS) with its Diabetic Foot Conference (DFCon) partnered with the Society of Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons of Singapore (SVESS) to shine a spotlight on the critical issue of limb preservation. This joint effort marks a significant stride in raising global awareness about diabetic foot complications and advocating for advanced limb preservation techniques.

The annual conference of ALPS, DFCon, has a longstanding reputation for uniting healthcare professionals and researchers in the fight against diabetic foot-related challenges. By sharing pioneering research, cutting-edge technologies, and optimal practices, DFCon has consistently spearheaded enhanced patient outcomes and solutions for diabetic foot conditions.

The recent partnership saw ALPS/DFCon join forces with the eminent Society of Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons of Singapore (SVESS), to extend the scope and influence of their missions. By combining the expertise of ALPS/DFCon with the regional insights of SVESS, this collaboration has created a dynamic platform for addressing limb preservation from a comprehensive global perspective.

Limb preservation remains a critical concern within the diabetic community, given the heightened risk of foot ulcers and related complications among individuals with diabetes. The collective strength of ALPS/DFCon and SVESS has illuminated preventive measures, innovative treatments, and multidisciplinary strategies that hold promise for enhancing limb preservation outcomes.

ALPS founding president, Prof. David Armstrong, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with SVESS has taken the ALPS/DFCon mission to a global scale. The imperative for limb preservation knows no borders, and through this alliance, we have explored inventive solutions and catalyzed transformative change for individuals grappling with diabetes.”

The Education Chair of SVESS, renowned vascular surgeon Dr. Steven Kum, was equally enthusiastic “We could not be more excited of the future of team care – between different clinicians and between SVESS and DFCon”.

The groundbreaking collaboration between DFCon and SVESS underscores their shared dedication to propelling the field of diabetic foot care and limb preservation forward.
