This brief article in which google suggests a nearby umbrella store for you when it notices foul weather afoot. It seems both sensible AND sinister. Why can’t the same be done for health? Why can’t patients themselves take control of their digital data and determine whether or not to pass it along to their physician? This could open up an entirely new field of quantified self apps and health-aware, location-aware technologies. If we as patients were able to share it with our physicians, then it would also drastically reduce the need for FDA approvals and techno-regulatory bottlenecks as our apps march forward faster than our approvals process.
Is this an oversimplification?
