David G. Armstrong, Professor of Surgery and Director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA) published his 600th peer reviewed manuscript in 2022, at age 52. He becomes the first podiatric surgeon in the history of the specialty to reach this landmark. He reached 500 peer reviewed manuscripts at age 50. His work has been cited more than 55,000 times. He and his colleagues have become the first podiatric surgeons to publish in a multitude of journals. This includes the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature journals, the Lancet, JAMA, JVS, and JBJS among many others.
