David G. Armstrong, Professor of Surgery and Director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance (SALSA), has just achieved a remarkable milestone by publishing his 700th peer-reviewed manuscript at the age of 55. This accomplishment makes him the first podiatric surgeon in the history of the specialty to reach this landmark. Notably, David reached his 600th peer-reviewed manuscript in 2022, at the age of 52, and his 500th at age 50. His work, which has been cited more than 77,000 times, reflects the groundbreaking impact he and his colleagues have made in the field. He was the first podiatric surgeon to publish in a multitude of prestigious journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature journals, The Lancet, JAMA, JVS, Circulation, and JBJS, among many others.
