Important work from @UMassVascSurg on Mobile Foot Clinics #ActAgainstAmputation #ToeTruck @ALPSlimb

🌟 Excited to share the impactful work led by Tammy Nguyen, MD, PhD, and the multidisciplinary team from the University of Massachusetts! Their innovative study, titled “Utilizing Multidisciplinary Mobile Outreach Clinics to Provide Comprehensive Diabetic Foot Care to Patients Experiencing Homelessness,” explores the feasibility and success of bringing essential diabetic foot care directly to underserved communities through mobile clinics.

Key highlights include:

• Over three years, seven multidisciplinary mobile clinics (MMCs) served 241 patients, addressing barriers such as limited personal resources and community stigma.

• The clinics provided vital screenings, diabetic foot ulcer care, and donated essential items like new shoes and socks.

• The initiative demonstrated a sustainable model for leveraging hospital-based resources in collaboration with community organizations to improve access to healthcare for vulnerable populations.

👏 Special recognition to all the authors and volunteers who made this possible. A huge shoutout to Tammy Nguyen, MD, PhD, for her leadership and dedication to advancing care for those experiencing housing insecurity.

Let’s continue the conversation on bridging healthcare gaps and addressing social determinants of health. #ToeTruck 🚛 #HealthcareInnovation #DiabeticFootCare #SocialDeterminantsOfHealth
